After working with PISD administration, Hurt learned that 80 percent of elementary-aged children in the district qualify for free or reduced lunches. “These children qualify to be fed five days out of the week. So what happens to them the other days of the week?”
Initially the program will start in Plainview six elementary schools but they have plans to expand to the junior high in phase two and to high school students in phase three of the program.
Plans are to start this Fall.
